Did you know… this old well behind Bethabara Baptist Church in Habit was dug by David Miller in 1859. He was paid $11 for his 10 days of work. The well supplied water to the community until water lines were installed in the 1960’s.

Diocese of Owensboro Formed

On this day in 1937, the Diocese of Owensboro split from the Diocese of Louisville and a week later, Rev. Francis R. Cotton was appointed as bishop. St. Stephen’s was selected to be the cathedral for this new diocese. The Diocese of Owensboro supports 18 Catholic Schools, a hospital, a retirement home, a personal care home, and several religious orders.
